photography is personal

Before I get into all the blah-blah stuff about my photo education and career you should know one thing about me, I’m a people person. When you trust a photographer to hang out with you on one of the biggest days of your life, it’s a big deal. I get that. I appreciate that. I love watching the drama unfold, the nervousness, the laughter, the energy, the tears, and the joy. I do my best to keep the mood going and maybe chime in with a dad joke or two (maybe three, but that’s it, I promise!) I love getting to know the wedding couples and I’m still in touch with many of them. Yes, I’ll make some wonderful photographs, but there is also a good chance I’ll make some wonderful friends — you.

I’ll share some basics about me. I live in Rochester, MN with my wife, Lisa, our three kids (all teenagers now!), two goofy dogs, and one shy cat.

I have a degree in fine art photography and have had a long career as a photojournalist for the Rochester Post Bulletin and Rochester Magazine, as well as the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. I also have regular freelance contributions in many publications in the region and nation including Minnesota Public Radio. As a news photographer I’ve photographed just about everything, often under intense deadline pressure. I work very quickly and discretely until it’s portrait time, then I’m a bit of a chatterbox.

Why should you trust me with your photo needs? Besides being an experienced and creative photographer, I’m a trustworthy family guy who has been involved in this community for years. I’m also a graduate of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Greater Rochester program.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at my website! Drop me a line or give me a call. I’d love to meet you and make your photograph.

Ken

You can’t work 20 + years in the photo biz without collecting a few goofy photos of yourself!
